Education Systems in Australia

Australia has 38 public and two private universities. Degrees offered in Australia are almost the same as other English-speaking countries, from bachelor degree to Doctorate degrees. Many educational institutions carry out researches onshore and offshore apart from regular programs in universities.
There are two semesters each year starting from late February to late November.

Under Graduate Degree

A student can fallow one of these three ways to do an Under Graduate degree:

Associated Diploma

Most of those programs are run by TAFE and the Associated Diploma is awarded after two years studying. (it can be started after completion of high school diploma)

Note: TAFE is the largest vocational education and training (VET) provider in Australia

Under Graduate Diploma

Can be awarded for tree years studying after high school diploma,

Bachelor

It is a three or four years program for students with high school diploma (12 years) or equivalent certificates from abroad which are usually accompanied with (A-Level) or other necessary prerequisites.

Graduate Certificate

This is a one or one and half year program after a bachelor degree (without apprenticeship)

Graduate Diploma

This certificate can be achieved in two or two and half years of study after secondary school.

Master Degree

This degree can be awarded after one or two years of studies. There are two major types of master that can be pursued, course based and research based. Usually, students who are keen to continue their studies to a PhD level may take master by research.

PhD – Doctorate- and Post Doctorate

These are usually a research-base program and students on this level may work on new scientific issues. Taking some courses or other prerequisites may be asked by research supervisor for purpose of equivalency to the requirements of the research.

Fees and costs in Australia for International Students

Tuition fees and living costs are significantly lower in comparison with the UK and the states.

• Tuition fee for Bachelor Degree: 10000 – 16500
• Tuition fee for Graduate Certificate: 9000 – 16000
• Tuition fee for Graduate Diploma: 11000 – 18000
• Master Degree and PhD: 11000- 18000

An average living cost including transportation, grocery shopping, insurance, clothing and etc, is about Aus$ 600.

Work eligibility

As international student you can apply work up to 20 hours a week to cover your fees partly.

Student Visa Application

Applying for a visa to entre Australia as an international student is fairly specialist job, especially if application is lodged in a country with a high assessment level.

These documents must be accompanied with the visa application:

• Offer Letter from an Australian education provider accompanied by your application.
• Electronic confirmation of enrolment or Certificate of Enrolment (COE), may be asked after you lodge the application.
• Capacity to cover all costs including air fares, tuition fees, living costs for duration of your stay in Australia. (Living costs in Australia are set at AUD 18,000 per year). And also if your members of family are accompanying, you should demonstrated your capacity to cover all costs associated with your family during the stay in Australia.
• The type and amount of funds and saving period are dependent on assessment level and education sector of study in Australia. ( at least for the first two year)
• Proof of English language proficiency depending of the level of education you are applying.
• Your personal situation in your country to show a personal and financial commitment that may prompt you to return to your country.
• Your academic and professional qualifications and background,
• Your immigration history
