About Prince Edward Island (PEI)
 
This province is Canada's smallest and greenest place. You can drive over a nine-mile bridge or take a ferry to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or other cities in Quebec, through which you also have access to the rest of Canada as well as U.S.A. Population of PEI is about 138,000. There are two major cities in PEI - Charlottetown, the capital and Summerside. There are 7 towns - Alberton, Cornwall, Georgetown, Kensington, Montague, Souris and Stratford.

PEI is one of the provinces which accepts immigrants through Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). PEI-PNP consists of four sub-categories one of which is Immigrant Partner Category. This sub-category is suitable for a principal applicant who proposes to make an investment in an existing PEI company and to take an active role in that company as a director or senior manager. The criteria detail is as follows:

Immigrant Partner requirement Criteria:
  • A minimum net worth of $400,000 CDN.
  • Must be prepared to make a $105,000 CDN investment in an eligible PEI company and to place $25,000 CDN in escrow with the Government of PEI, to be returned on evidence of one year's residency in PEI.

  • The ideal candidate should have following criteria:
    • Less than 55 years of age;
    • A minimum 14 years of education, including one (or more) post-secondary certificates or degrees;
    • Capable of being interviewed in English or French;
    • Has several years of management of a his/her own business or have management experience in a profitable company;
    • PEI will accept applicants who are not yet able to speak English or French, but the applicant must deposit $20,000 CDN in escrow with the government of PEI. The $20,000 CDN is refundable after applicant landed in PEI and provided the proof of English proficiency.
    • The candidate still can apply without meeting all the above criteria if they score 50 points out of 100 points.
